How much coffee does the world consume?
Approx. 11 Billion pounds of coffee are consumed every year and each year some 7 million tons of green beans are produced world wide. Almost all of it is hand picked.
How long do beans last?
Coffee beans are good for roughly 14 days after roasting depending on storage conditions. Most gourmets will not use beans any older, because the essential oils and flavor is greatly diminished. In addition, beans that are ground should be used within 48hrs to ensure proper flavor.
Where is coffee grown?
While coffee originated in Africa it is now grown all over the world. The beans are all grown within 2000 miles of the equator. Hawaii & Puerto Rico are the only U.S. state/ territories to grow beans.
